Elektra heads up the Goddess of the Dunes belly dance company, and has been belly dancing since 2002 . Her undying passion for belly dance inspired her to share her belly dance journey with like minded women who are looking to enrich their lives through movement and music. She has been trained in Egypt and is proficient in Egyptian cabaret, floor work, fire sticks, cane, drum solos, single veil, short veils, shamadan (candelabra), sagat (finger cymbals), sword (scimitar), wings of Isis, and Moroccan tray. She is an athletic dancer and delivers energized performances in classical Egyptian style.
Elektra has been a professional performer since 2005 and has performed for Saudi royalty in Seychelles ,corporate clients at Sun City and Vodaworld, and has appeared in local TV shows and interviews.
how I got started
Elektra has always been a natural dancer and started dancing from a young age. She was first introduced to belly dancing when she went to Sheikh's Palace restaurant and was totally mesmerised by the belly dancer - a truly life changing moment. She fell in love with the art instantly and started taking lessons.
She loves belly dancing as it gives her complete freedom, peace and joy. It allows her to express her femininity in a powerful and liberating way. Dancing moves her emotionally, spiritually, physically in a way that cannot be explained but only felt. It is an expression that stretches, encapsulates and empowers a woman's body, mind and spirit.
